The CFS GigaSlicer re-defines the limits for high performance slicing by adding capacity to slice one extra log in almost every application. Take slicing calibre 100 mm for example, where it slices 5 instead of 4 lanes. What does this sort of increase mean in real terms in today’s uncertain global economy?

The largest in its class

With a slicing area of 550 x 210 mm, the CFS GigaSlicer launched at the Interpack exhibition in April 2008, is the largest in its class. Jörg Schmeiser Director Product Management: “Although this machine is designed to meet the very highest slicing capacity requirements, it also makes economic sense for manufacturers who are not at this point yet. Investing in a slicer that offers more capacity than you currently need does not mean you have to use that capacity to produce more. It can also be used to produce the same volume in less time, leading to significant potential savings in manpower and other operational costs. This compensates for the extra investment in a surprisingly short payback time. ”

Future-proof investment

Of course, it is also wise for a company with growth plans to invest in a slicer that can grow with it. Jörg Schmeiser continues: “Much is said about investing in future-proof equipment, and the CFS GigaSlicer is an example that really lives up to this claim. The ability to add another slicing lane when the need arises typically delivers between 25 and 50% more capacity. There is no other slicer available at the moment offering that.”
A third customer situation that Jörg Schmeiser believes can benefit from the CFS GigaSlicer, is replacing several slicers with one: “Replacing two lines with one based on a CFS GigaSlicer has benefits in terms of more efficient logistics, simplified maintenance, faster cleaning and other operational savings. ”

Quality as well as quantity

The CFS GigaSlicer is not only designed with high capacity in mind, but also to deliver consistent slicing and portioning quality. A patented idle cut rotor avoids sliver slices and guarantees consistent slice thickness, while the knife is easily adjusted to an ideal position because the rotor head moves in both x and y directions. Hygiene is another area that received specially attention, leading to a mechanical construction that separates the product zone from the control and drive zone to minimize contamination as well as simplify cleaning. Main components are easily accessible, and most parts that come into contact with the product can be removed for cleaning without tools, further improving sanitation.
With the CFS GigaSlicer in combination with the CFS ShingleLoader 700, a conveyor loading system into the CFS PowerPakNT thermoformer, CFS meets the requests for these high capacity market segments.
